what you didn't know as a tenant!
Renting a house or apartment in this day in age seems to be very common, for people in every age group. A lot of the time, renters take insurance for granted.
Here is an example of a true story:
A young new mother was ready to get out on her own with her baby boy. A friend had just bought a house and thought it would be a great idea to get help with the mortgage, while, at the same time, allowing this mother to start a new journey. The owner of the house had house insurance (of course!). It never occurred to the new tenant that maybe tenant insurance would have been a smart idea!
Not even a month later, while in the midst of having the roof re-done, came a MASSIVE downpour of rain. To say that some water came in and did some damage, would definitely be an understatement.
All of the contents in the house were affected, and almost all was not salvage-able. From a crib, to photos, to beds and dressers, none of it was covered under the owners insurance, as it did not belong to them.
What started out as an amazing new adventure for a new mother, ended up in extreme grief.
We cannot reiterate enough, the value of what insurance providers can do in times of need. Tenant insurance is so important, so don't take it for granted!
